I met Reuben
several years ago at a nightclub I used to frequent when I first
moved to Dallas, Texas. Reuben was part of the waitstaff. He would
keep a harmonica in his back pocket and play along with the band
as he wiped the tables.
One night
I asked him to join us on stage with his guitar. I didn't think
much of my actions because I play all of the time. To Reuben,
this was an opportunity to be heard. He played one of his own
songs.
After that
evening I realized that Reuben had helped me to understand how
fortunate I was to play music all of the time and how this gift
touches so many people during the course of life. In his words,
"Vincelli, you have reached your dream. When you reach your dream,
show others (how to do it) because you will be the one who knows."
For the
past three years, I have been telliing this story to audiences
around the world, not only for them, but for myself....so that
I may continually grow and add more "music" to the world. During
the summer of 1999, I asked Reuben to join me on a big stage at
the Irving Arts Center in Irving, Texas.
The story
is now complete because I had chance to tell the story of Reuben's
Dream in the presence of Reuben. The Spirit of God is evident
in this man and so he touches many lives with this wonderful story
that he has given me.
